With numerous illustrations throughout from crayon drawings by Reginald Marsh. Large 8vo, publisher’s original brown cloth boards backed in natural unbleached linen and with a leather label on the spine lettered in gilt, in the original slipcase with paper label printed in black. xiv, 387 pp. A very fine copy, essentially as new, the slipcase is fine too but for the lightest rubbing along the edges.
FIRST OF THE EDITION. Dreiser’s masterpiece, first published in 1900, proved to be the first r ealistic novel in our literature. Reginald Marsh's illustrations evoke a nostalgic record of America at the end of the 19th century. The edition was printed by Joseph Blumenthal at The Spiral Press in New York. In all a beautiful production reflecting the fine work done by Limited Editions Club. |
