ISLAND BOY

ISLAND BOY

(New York: Viking Kestrel, 1988).

A charming and heartfelt story of a full life on one of the island’s off the rocky coast of Barbara Cooney’s beloved Maine. Cooney was one of the most popular and award winning illustrators of the last several decades of the 20th century. In 1996, Maine Governor Angus King honored Miss Cooney by proclaiming "Barbara Cooney Day". In her long career Cooney was either illustrator, author or sometimes, as in this case, both for well over 100 books. Shortly before her death in 2000 Cooney said this book, ISLAND BOY and her other self written and illustrated MISS RUMPHIUS, were her two favorites. Item #22396
