Armstrong’s treatises on fevers were highly regarded in both England and United States. In fact, he was held of such high esteem in and was so widely read in the U.S. that American journals frequently referred to him as “the modern Sydenham”. Item #22628

Second American Edition, from the Third English Edition, we corrections and appendix 8vo, full contemporary tree calf, the spine with flat bands double ruled in gilt and a single red morocco label gilt lettered. xvi, 439. Internally a very well preserved copy with much less spotting or toning then one would expect of books of the time, the copy still solid and quite fresh, the binding with upper hinge just lightly cracked, the calf binding still in nice condition.
