ANTOLOGIA, Seleccion y Prologo de Maria Zambrano

(Santiago, Chile: Editorial Panorama, 1937).

EARLY PRINTING AND A FIRST THUS. A posthumous collection of poems by the emblematic member of the Generation of 27. Lorca was presumed shot by Nationalist militia a year prior to this publication, only days after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. A poet, prose writer, dramatist and artist, Lorca had won international recognition with the influential group of poets that arose in Spanish literary circles between 1923 and 1927, essentially out of a shared desire to experience and work with avant-garde forms of art and poetry. His experiences traveling through impoverished rural Spain and New York, (particularly amongst the disenfranchised African American population), transformed him into a passionate advocate of the theatre of social action.[.
