An exellent work by a great sailor and author of SOUTH WITH SCOTT. Lord Admiral Mounteveans, aka  Teddy , served as second-in-command on Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated expedition to the South Pole in 1910 1913 and as captain of the expedition ship Terra Nova. Scott offered Evans the position with his second expedition as a means of persuading him to drop plans for his own competing expedition to explore King Edward VII Land. Item #25039

With six illustrations from expedition photographs, primarily from the Terra Nova Expedition, two of which are double-page spreads and with expedition maps as endpapers. 8vo, publisher s original green cloth, lettered on the spine in black. 172pp A pleasing reading copy, internally very good, clean and solid. The binding faded at the spine and with minor mellowing.
