With the illustrations from the original first editions, as well as additional material such as manuscript copies, portraits, etc. 8vo, in contemporary three-quarter tan calf over marbled boards, the spines decorated in gilt in compartments between flat bands, two contrasting labels lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, t.e.g. Internally a nice solid set, the bindings still firm and strong but with rubbing and edge wear, the spines mellowed with chipping at several of the spine tips, a few labels lacking, one volume lacking additional leather on the spine, lacking volume 21, 'A Tale of Two Cities'.
