(New York: Heritage Illustrated Bookshelf, Heritage Press, 1942).

FIRST OF THE EDITION, A VERY FINE COPY. Thackeray made the drawings for The Ring and the Rose during Christmas of 1853. He wrote the story around the drawings, a mock-heroic fairy tale...a humourous fairy tale. It deals with the adventures of Prince Gigllio, who has been ousted from the throne by his uncle. It dealw with Gigllio's rivalry for the hand, first of the princess Angelica and then of her maid Betsinda. A pleasing book to be read and a pleasing book for the eye.7. Item #26058
