ANTARCTIC NIGHT

(London: Longmans, Green and Co, 1958).

FIRST EDITION. Commander Bursey spent many months during the years from 1928 to 1957 in Antarctica. He had been with dog-sledges to Mount Hal Flood, the longest Antarctic journey ever made with dogs but for Amundsen's dash to the Pole some years before. He writes from a unique venue, under the command of Byrd during the first Byrd Expedition of 1928-1930 and during subsequent journeys in 1939-1941 and again from 1955-1957. Item #27509

First Edition. With illustrations throughout from photographs. 8vo, publisher's original navy-blue cloth, the spine with label gilt lettered, in the original pictorially illustrated dustjacket. 256 pp. A fine copy, bright and clean and with only the most minimal mellowing to the panel of the dustjacket.
