FIRST EDITION AND A VERY FINE COPY INDEED. Auden's last book of lyrics. Auden died before the book was finished, but had already collected the poems, chosen the title and written the dedication. To these has been added Auden s last work for the stage: THE ENTERTAINMENT, written in collaboration with Chester Kallman.
Auden s last poem was not included in the typescript of the book, but is included in the introductory notes:
