A SCARCE ADAM AND CHARLES BLACK POPULAR BOTANICAL IN FINE CONDITION. The Reverend Charles Albert Hall was a prolific contributor to, and editor of, nature books published by Adam & Charles Black. PLANT-LIFE is a valuable contribution to botanical studies written for the lay person or amateur. And, as with most books by the Black publishing firm, great trouble was taken to make the book as aesthetically pleasing as it is useful and informative. Noted Edwardian botanical illustrator C. F. Newall's colourplates certainly do just that. Item #30240

First Edition. Beautifully illustrated with 50 colourplates from the drawings of C. F. Newall and 24 plates of black and white photographs taken by the author, and with many additional illustrations throughout the text. Large 8vo, in the original decorated cloth, the upper cover and spine botanically decorated in pink and green and with bright gilt lettering, t.e.g. xi, 380 pp. A fine and handsome copy, the cloth in excellent condition with no fading, sharp corners and just a bit of unobtrusive bumping to the spine tips, hinges tight and strong, the text clean and fresh with no foxing at all.
