KATE GREENAWAY

(London: Adam and Charles Black, 1905).

FIRST EDITION AND AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE FOR FANS AND COLLECTORS OF ARTIST/ILLUSTRATOR KATE GREENAWAY. This thick volume combines a catalogue raisonné with extensive biographic writings, particularly in regard to her relationship with John Ruskin, of which letters and correspondences are also included. But, as one would expect, Greenaway's own artwork, so much of which is excellently reproduced here on fine plates, takes center seat. Item #30241

First Edition. With 53 fine plates of Ms. Greenaway's paintings in colour, 34 additional black and white plates and an additional 56 thumb-nail drawings and sketches throughout the text and endleaves in colour reproducing Greenaway nursery wall paper in miniature. Large 8vo, in the original blue cloth lettered and decorated in gilt and in yellow, red and light blue on both the upper cover and spine, Greenaway illustrated endleaves in colours and top edge gilt. xx, 300 pp., 2 ads. Internally a very good and fresh copy, the paper bright and the plates pristine, the blue cloth is attractive and the binding is sturdy and strong with firm hinges, the spine is mellowed and the gilt is bright, there is a lesser touch of fading at the top edge of the front board.
