The first volume of this work contains a full compliment of the correspondence from 1769-1789 including much on the beginnings of the revolutionary efforts in America, the War for Independence and subsequently, the birthing of the Federalist movement, and the writing of the Federalist Papers and the Constitution. Included also are highly important papers by Hamilton concerning his considerations, plans and reports on a National Bank and the Constitutionality of the National Bank. Further papers contain Hamilton’s earliest works on the legitimacy of colonial rights and his many tracts and letters on democratic political theory are included here. His extensive writings and reports on Public Credit, on a National Bank, on the Subject of Manufactures, on the Constitutionality of a National Bank, and on the Establishment of a Mint are also found in these volumes. There is considerable added correspondence between Hamilton and Washington as well as the major political figures of the new nation. In these volumes lie the words that were instrumental in the creation of a new democratic republic founded on the principles of order and responsibility of one citizen to another and of the political system that would create a new federal system of government committed to the service of and protection of individual freedoms and rights of its citizenry its states.
