THE HISTORY OF FANNY BURNEY

(Oxford: At the Clarendon Press, 1958).

FIRST EDITION OF THIS BIOGRAPHY BEAUTIFULLY RESEARCHED FROM THOUSANDS OF UNPUBLISHED LETTERS AND JOURNALS AMONG THE BURNEY FAMILY PAPERS. It includes not only her years as an author and playwright traveling within Johnsonian circles; but also continues into the previously little-known Napoleonic years, her ten years residence in France, and marriage to French exile, General Alexandre D'Arblay. In short here are provided all of the sorrows and sins and joys and triumphs of an extraordinary character now best remembered as 'the Famous Madame d'Arblay. Item #31391
