The writing is very well done and the chapters on the many battles of the Civil War are written by the generals who led and those who participated in the actual battles. Beauregard who writes of the First Battle of Bull Run, General John Imboden describes the Incidents of the First Bull Run, General Joseph E. Johnston describes the responibilities, Colonel Northrup writes of the Confederates at Manassas and Major C. Brown on General Ewell at Bull Run.
